What Is a Low Slope Roof?
A low slope roof, sometimes called a “flat” roof, has a pitch of 3:12 (14 degrees) or less. While most commonly found on commercial and industrial buildings, low slope roofs can also appear on some residential structures.
Key Components of a Low Slope Roof:
- Roof Deck – The structural foundation
- Insulation – Enhances energy efficiency and comfort
- Roof Membrane – Creates the waterproof barrier
- Surfacing – Protects against weather, UV exposure, and wear
Unlike steep slope roofs, which primarily shed water, a low slope roof is designed to be weatherproof, requiring proper installation and ongoing maintenance to perform effectively over time. When installed correctly, these roofs provide durable protection and long-term value for your building.
