The term low slope roof refers to a roof which has a pitch of 3:12 (14 degrees) or less. Low slope roofs are often times described as “flat” roofs. Roofs of this type are found most commonly on commercial/industrial buildings but it is not uncommon to find low slope roofs on residential dwellings.
A low slope roof is usually comprised of four major components: the roof deck, the insulation, the roof membrane, and surfacing. The low slope roof system is considered to be weatherproof where as a steep slope roof system is not weatherproof but water shedding. This type of roof is a major component in any building and must be properly installed and maintained in order to provide the best possible results for the longest period of time.
